Games Black Friday: PS5 restock updates: It looks like Walmart has big plans for Black Friday

We’ve been waiting for retailers to make Black Friday announcements, and it looks like the first has been found before the official announcement. According to a leaked photo of a paper advertisement from Twitter user Wario64, Walmart will have a PS5 restock on Black Friday. If this image is true, Walmart plans to make its PS5 restock available first to its Walmart Plus subscribers. This means the best chance to grab a console on Black Friday is to sign up for this service, as you will have a four-hour head start on anyone else. 

Walmart is unlikely to be the only retailer with plans to hide a PS5 restock behind a paywall this Black Friday. Most other retailers now offer a way for you to pay to cut the line by joining their membership programs. Here are the services we’ve seen so far:

  • Walmart Plus: In addition to early access to Black Friday sales, Walmart has made it so subscribers can get access to the next PS5 restock at least one hour earlier than normal Walmart shoppers. This subscription costs $13 a month or $98 a year, and has a 15-day free trial right now. 
  • GameStop PowerUp Rewards: The first company to offer a way to cut the PS5 restock line is also the cheapest. In addition to increased points to spend on discounts in the store, you can get access to a console at least one hour before normal GameStop shoppers. And for $15 a year, that’s not a bad deal. 
  • Best Buy Totaltech: $200 a year is a big ask if all you want is early access to a PS5 restock, especially when Best Buy doesn’t guarantee the console will be in the Totaltech program before it’s available to anyone else. But <a…
